William Shatner is my father

No, I'm really just kidding, but they sure do look alike.

A Star Trek fan approached my dad in Washington D.C. about 2 years ago, and the guy was like really happy. He went up to my dad, and after looking at him closely, he laughed and told my dad that he was very sorry, but that he looked exactly like William Shatner. All my dad could respond with was, "Who's William Shatner?". Mind you, I didn't know who he was either, until I Googled him, and told my dad he was an actor in Star Trek. All my dad could respond with was, "What's Star Trek?". Oh silly father.

So, Priceline....it offers discounted travel related things, like flights, hotels, cruises, etc. I saw this commercial and seriously LOL-ed. It went with that good and evil thing. Which, if you noticed, is like the "Mirror Universe" from Star Trek (I read up on some Star Trek). It's just really funny how it's William Shatner....because he is just one interesting character! Star Trek stars are taking over TV commercials!!
(no really - George Takei is the new pitchman for Sharp's Quattron TVs).

So this commercial has the evil twin telling this guy that he should take the $149 deal on a hotel, saying it's a really great deal, but then the good "real" Priceline Negotiator comes in, saving the day. He tells him to name his own Price at Priceline. It's not just me, but I've seen other people's comments on this commercial, and it really hit their funny bone. (Does that make sense?).
One thing that I noticed that kind of bugged me, was when the good twin comes in, and the "Priceline Negotiator" screen pops up, afterward, the transition back to the actor actually moving, is a little funky. Did you notice that?

Commercial directed by Steve Miller, provided by Radical Media.

Someone posted this image on a website, containing the commercial, I thought I'd share...because they were right, it totally matches the commercial:

OH! and here is a Priceline treat. You can watch the other Priceline commercials with William Shatner, as well as download Priceline wallpapers, buddy icons, and ring tones!

To finish, I want to share with you one of my dad's favorite actors. When I showed him this music video, he was amazed. Of course, I love the song as well.

Animals Have Souls

Like it says, animals have souls, and more that one human being I'd think. A soul is like that noble warm feeling in you. But humans, we're selfish, we don't appreciate this, and take advantage of weaker ones. What a way to go.

I found this ad, about how you shouldn't use animals for cosmetic testing. Why should they suffer for us. What did they ever do to deserve such treatment? This is their world, and we did nothing but screw it up; tear it apart.

Cute isn't it? Doggie scented.
This little guy just approved a bottle of whatever for your enjoyment.

Overall, I do like the ad. Using the dog as a little bottle, fresh doggie breath to make you smell...nice. It's cute, in a not so cute way.

At&T always wins

I came across this ad, and it kind of just annoyed me. It was a cellphone ad and T-mobile was talking about how their myTouch 4G is better than At&t's iPhone 4.

I mean, I don't know much about the iPhone 4, but T-mobile comparing anything against At&t seems stupid and tricky. From what I've seen from friends who have T-Mobile, they do nothing but complain, because of the bad signal. So even if T-Mobile had one feature better than the iPhone 4, what's the point if your phone company sucks anyways? And didn't the iPhone 4 come out before the 4G network on both Sprint and T-Mobile? It's like they know they suck, so they had to find that one tiny detail, that At&t failed at. I don't think it makes much of a difference.
I just think the cell network battles should stick between Verizon and At&t, just saying.... Even though , of course AT&T beats them all! :)

BTW ....they copied the Apple vs PC campaign. They are probably just mocking Apple (since the iPhone is from Apple), by giving them a taste of their own medicine. But I still think it's just a little pathetic.

Kia's Hamster Rap

While watching T.V, a commercial (of course) plays of KIA motors. Ooo fun. Yea not so much. Have you seen their latest commercial? Sure nice music, the one thing that was keeping me from switching the channel, but the whole time I just kept on thinking, "What's with the hamsters?".

Did you see it? OHMYGOD. Really. Like, why hamsters? I mean, the first thing I thought of was those little hamster stuffed animals with like batteries in them that when you press their toes, they start rapping some funky song. Is that what they played off of? I mean they are dressed the same, and the song is funky. But really, what does the hamster even have to do with the car? I mean, it's like a freaky trance of music and rapping hamster---"Can't look away". Freaking creepy is what I think. And I mean, sure the song basically is telling you "would you rather drive that, or THAT". But, i don't know, I still can't get pass those rapping hamsters.

Something worth sucking

Ever heard of Chupa Chups?
It's a delicious lollipop invented by some Spanish guy named, Enric Bernat. You know he thought it were to be a good idea if he put hard candy on a wooden stick (later transfered over to plastic sticks), because kids were getting sticky hands.
'Chupa' comes from the Spanish word meaning 'to suck'. Hence the name....

Anyways, I was browsing around Adsofthworld.com, and found a childhood candy :D Yea, did you guess it? Chupa Chups!
Courtesy of Miami Ad School, I thought was freaking genius!! Well I mean, you know, as far as candy goes :)

I thought i was a pretty good idea. I mean, fizzy inside, fireworks explosion? It just goes together doesn't it? Makes me want one now, they are really good lollipops, not to mention they have like 40+ flavors :)
Oh and did you know? Salvador Dali designed the logo in 1969, with the slogan "it's round and long-lasting".
I liked that the firework was like the main concentration. And it's just that, nothing else. It's simple, but it kinda really takes up a lot of the page, but it shouldn't matter that much, since it's a firework and fireworks are always the main attraction right? And this new fizzy flavor should be the main thing everyone is looking at, or wanting,

Need a moment?

Hulu junkie presents a commercial by Geico. The first one I ever heard from this campaign was the little piggy crying "wee, wee wee" all the way home, but this following one just makes me laugh every time I watch it. I absolutely love this Geico ad! ...
Anyways, it's the 'Abe Lincoln honesty' commercial .. take a look:

Mike McGlone is the firs male actor you see, and Timothy Simons plays Abe Lincoln, and he totally did a good job. LOL.. Geico has the weirdest commercials but they usually get the point across, right? 'Save you 15% or more on car insurance' ..yadda yadda yadda... stuck in my head because of so many times I've heard it...

= Instant classic! :)

Too bad in Abe's time there weren't any Twix bars to munch on in awkward moments ;)

Another Toña favorite

Just one more Toña favorite of mine. Same campaign from my previous post called "Copy Cat?".
Same basic concept, of culture and the joy of life and this beer. Love it. :)
Any ways short post, just wanted to share :)
