Copy cat?

There is a commercial that came in Nicaragua in 2008, and still plays on local channels everyday, just because it was that great of a success. The brand was there local beer called Toña. Two months later, a similar commercial came out only it was for another local beer called Victoria.

Toña's commercial is about the beauty and love of Nicaragua and Toña as one. They combine culture and what makes the country was it is, which is probably why it was a great success, not to mention the song. I know I'm not the only one that loves hearing the Toña song.

Now Victoria when their video came out, it was almost the same basic concept, only instead of the country's culture, it was friendship, and how the beer brings friends together. Cute? Well, it wasn't as successful as Toña's commercial, but still almost just as nice.

Sorry for it being in Spanish, but that's how Nicaragua rolls. Hope you enjoy the 2 songs :)

  1. I feel like even though it is an advertisement for beer I also think that it works great for a vacation ad. I think that they did evenly combine nature and product. I have never seen this advertisement before but I really do like it. The second one is great as well. I think that they found 2 great concepts for the beer. Kudos

  2. The first one definitely reminds me of a Mentos commercial - what with its classic product shots and shared glances among the actors in it. They're pretty cheesy. But, I guess they convey "hey, look how much fun we're having - drink our beer and you will too!", so they're bound to push product right off the shelves to the consumers that eat up that sort of branding. Sorry, not for me - but nice comparison of the two commercials!

  3. You're right, these two ads are very similar especially the way they show the product. I think I like the first one better because it's showing more of the culture and scenery and I feel like I have more of an understanding of what Nicaragua is really like. The second one I just get a sense of party. So I definitely like the feel of the first one more.
